DIY 2017 Memory Jar

Hey everyone!

Happy 2017 and welcome to my blog! I would like to thank the Little Red Prep for encouraging me to get started on my blog. I hope you enjoy and stick around!

Today I will be showing you how to make this memory jar to start off the new year, and also what I like to write in mine.

Here is what you will need:
Mason jar
Scissors
Fun tape
Markers
Scrapbook paper
Pom Poms
I started out by writing out some of my favorite quotes to put on my jar, using my Sharpies. You can obviously use any markers, but these are my favorites (I get it from my Mama!)

On the front, I wrote "goal digger" and on the back I wrote "I can't not do that." I think these are good reminders to make this year great and I will see them everyday. To attach them I used some cute, colorful tape. I was going for a very fun and bright design!

Next, I decorated my jar. I used pom poms, but you can use pretty much anything. Some other ideas include ribbons, buttons, and cute stickers.
After this, I traced the lid onto scrapbook paper to put on the top for some extra decoration.
I used this Lilly Pulitzer piece that I think I saved from an old agenda or packaging, but the choices are endless!
And that's it, so simple! Now you have an adorable place to store all your memories for the year. I keep mine on my desk so I don't forget to use it.
I have done this for the past two years and I'm excited to do it again this year. I try to write something everyday, which doesn't always happen, and put them in the jar. Then at the end of the year, I open the jar and am reminded of all the great things that happened to me during the year. Some ideas of what to write include: exciting events in your life, things that made you smile, funny things that happened, moments you are proud of, and just any little thing you would like to remember. Here is an example of what I wrote today.
Let's make 2017 a great year and let me know if you make a memory jar!
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed,
